The Post Graduate Diploma in Management or PGDM course happens to be a diploma course that the institutes offer and this course is recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The duration of this course is two years. Its curriculum is concentrated on business practicality and it is pretty different from the MBA course that is driven towards the business’s theoretical side. When an institution is accredited by the AIU (Association of Indian Universities), then it turns the PGDM course corresponding to an MBA and it aids the candidates in opting for further studies, like a doctorate or FPM that needs an MBA degree in place of a diploma.
PGDM Admission Process
The syllabus of the PGDM is designed for developing soft and behavioral skills and conceptual knowledge in students who have planned to work in the government sector, industry or various other organizations. The admission process to the PGDM course happens to be different from one institute to another. The individual institutes need valid scores from a competitive entrance exam while a few conduct their own entrance exam to decide on the eligibility criteria. Hence, the PGDM course aids aspirants to turn highly industry-oriented.
It has been observed that when a student completes a PGDM course, then he gets an upper edge compared to an MBA course because of the experience and exposure he gains at the time of his studies. After students have completed the PGDM course, they can opt for doctoral programs.
